The company that is Racer X USA today began in 1985 and expanded to the Internet in 1999. The staff has more than 65 years of combined experience with both diesel and gas engines and power-trains, including rare high performance vehicles such as Boss 302 and 428 Cobra Jet Mustangs. The product development team at Racer X is staffed by certified automotive engineers. Racer X’s founder earned masters degrees in multiple engineering fields including automotive, aviation, hydraulic systems and structural design. Racer X’s founder and several other product development team staff members worked with James Mercer, special race vehicles project engineer for Ford Motor Company on the Ford GT 40 race cars that swept Le Mans in the 1960’s, Also on the infamous 427 race engines and power-trains for Holman Moody’s Nascar racing divisions. Graphics of the GT 40 have been featured on Ford and Motorcraft parts boxes, packaging and literature since the mid 1960’s. A detuned production version of the GT 40 legal for street use was developed and sold to the public by select Ford dealers as the Ford GT through the 2010 model year.
Racer X USA began working on diesel power-trains before they were first offered in light and medium duty trucks, vans and SUVs. We offer the finest Fully Custom built automatic and manual transmissions, torque converters, transfer cases, engines, complete axle assemblies and complete ready to install powertrains from engine to axle for all rear wheel drive domestic vehicles. Racer X USA has exclusive proprietary and other rights to most parts and components used in our custom built product line. We also build stock versions of many of our products for all rear wheel drive domestic vehicles and offer many accessories.
Racer X USA’s staff has also proudly served as research and product development consultants to several corporations, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Military and NASA. In a joint effort with a retired NASA engineer who joined the staff, Racer X USA began designing their own Custom Torque Converter line in 2002. In 2007, the company literally sky rocketed into the scene of worldwide racing when Racer X USA was honored for their design, fit, testing and production of improved components for the high performance market at The Performance Racing Industry convention and trade show. As a result, Racer X USA became eligible for and was approved for of PRI membership. The Performance Racing Industry is comprised of all forms of sanctioned racing worldwide. PRI members consist of racing drivers and teams, track owners, builders, manufacturers and suppliers. Members are from Formula 1, Nascar, Indy car, Top Fuel, Kart, European endurance and other forms of racing or competition events. We are proud to be members of this distinguished organization.
